(MRS) CHIOMA LAURETTA OKPALAEKE
(MRS) CHIOMA LAURETTA OKPALAEKE: Chioma is a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Tax Practitioner with years of private and public sector experience. She started her career as an accountant at Bullberry Systems Nigeria Ltd, an MTN trade partner company were she directed the marketing and retail activities of the company across the 3 (three) branches in Imo State.
Subsequently, she trained and qualified as a chartered accountant at Spiropoulos, Adiele, Opara & Co (now Grant Thornton). She joined the public service in 2009 as a consultant to Imo State Government House under the Bureau for Revenue Generation and Accounts Monitoring. There she served as technical team head of the Bureau and provided support to the Special Adviser to the Governor on Revenue Generation, in policy formulation and other technical issues like accounts monitoring, debt recovery, tax reconciliation, tax audit and management.
In February 2012, she was redeployed to the Office of the Commissioner for Finance, where she worked with the Ministry of Finance in overseeing the commercialization policy of Imo State Government. The scope of her assignment included Withholding Tax, Pay-As-You-Earn (PAYE), Capital Gains Tax (CGT), Stamp Duties and Direct Tax Assessment. In 2013, she was appointed the Executive Secretary of Imo State Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) Management Committee and was charged with team leadership of about sixty young graduates and other professionals assigned to the Board of Internal Revenue (BIR) to oversee the successful consolidation, automation and repositioning of the State’s revenue generation efforts. Under her watch, the State’s revenue collection process was automated and the Board made significant improvement in revenue collection.
She joined Saffron Professional Services in September 2015 as the Tax Manager with capabilities in the areas of Tax Planning, Compliance, Business Restructuring and Transfer Pricing. .
